Introduction and Origin
Mango is one of the tasty seasonal fruit in summer which has its own yummy taste! Miyazaki mangoes is one of the costly breeds of mangoes in the world. It is one of the tastiest mangos in the world. It originates from Japan and the mango is termed as 'Egg of the Sun' which means 'Taiyo No Tamago' in The Japanese. Miyazaki is one of the cities in Japan where it grows. The colour of the Miyazaki mangoes is entirely different for other mango varieties.
As per Japanese media, this variety of mango has been cultivated in Miyazaki in early 70s and 80s. In India, as everyone heard about a Madhya Pradesh couple who grow 2 mango trees has deployed security guards and dogs to protect the rare and costly mango for thief and criminals!
If you want to buy or grow this variety in India, as of now there are no reliable source of information about this in Indian market and it may be mostly fake in online market and try your own research and careful before you buy
How did it came to limelight
Sankalp from Jabalpur, MP. A horticulturist who was travelling around in Chennai, Tamil Nadu was looking for a different variety of other sapling and trees, during his travel he enquired about this with other travellers. Someone offered him this rare mango and he was not aware of it. After 4 years, it has grown, and the mango fruits looked purple colour and then few attempts to steel the mango and finally he came to come that is Miyazaki mango variety from Japan.After the knowing the cost and power of it, he deployed security and 6 to 8 dogs and he has planted around 100 plus sapling and he want to grow it, before selling it anyone. He got offer from few businessmen up to Rs.21,000 and he rejected the offer and he want to grow more trees before he sells it.
Also the scientist is also doing research to check the authenticity of the mangoes.
Facts of Miyazaki Mangoes
This variety of mango grown in summer between April and August. It is one of the expensive mangos in the world. Japanese media states that it sold ₹2.70 lakh per kilogram in the international market last year as per market research.- Miyazaki mangoes contains beta-carotene and its antioxidant content which help people with refreshing the tired eyes and it prevents the reduced vision.
- Local news reports say that the production of mangoes started in Miyazaki in late 70s and early 80s.
- The city's warm weather, long hours of sunlight and abundant rain made it possible for the farmers in Miyazaki to go for mango farming, the reports said. It is now the dominant produce here.
- The Miyazaki mangoes undergo a strict checking and testing before exported across the island nation. Those which pass the highest quality standard, are called "Eggs of the Sun”.
- Like most of the Mangoes this also contain Zinc, Calcium, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Copper, and Magnesium, etc.
